CAS:N-Vinylformamide is a chemical compound that is used as a solvent in pharmaceutical and biochemical applications. It has also been used as a clinical agent to treat malonic aciduria. N-Vinylformamide can be synthesized from formaldehyde and methanol by reacting the two compounds in the presence of an acid catalyst. The reaction mechanism for this process is not well understood, but it may involve an initial condensation reaction followed by the elimination of water to form the amide linkage. In addition, N-Vinylformamide may react with primary amino groups to form cationic polymers. This chemical also has a high degree of intermolecular hydrogen bonding because it contains both polar and nonpolar functional groups. Consequently, immobilization of N-Vinylformamide on a cationic polymer is possible due to the highly polar nature of this compound.Formula:C3H5NOPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Clear LiquidMolecular weight:71.08 g/molRef: 3D-FN173097
