CAS:1-Methyl-1H-1,2,3-benzotriazole (MBT) is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of corrosion. It is soluble in water and alcohols, and is insoluble in hydrocarbons. MBT has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in wastewater through electrochemical studies and it is also a potential candidate for use as an antibacterial agent.
