1-Pentadecene

1-Pentadecene is a fatty acid ester with the chemical formula CH3(CH2)15CO2H. It is an aliphatic hydrocarbon that belongs to the group of alkoxy radicals, which are derived from alkanes. 1-Pentadecene can be found in natural sources such as plants and animals, but it is also produced synthetically by the catalytic hydrogenation of isopropyl palmitate. 1-Pentadecene has been shown to inhibit lipid peroxidation and promote fatty acid biosynthesis in vitro. It has also been shown to have antioxidant properties and promote biofuel production through its ability to act as an organic acid or fatty acid catalyst.
