Trans-2-Hexanoic acid is a fatty acid with a hydroxyl group on the second carbon. It shows significant cytotoxicity and thermal expansion. Trans-2-hexanoic acid can form hydrogen bonds with other molecules and has been shown to be toxic to cells in culture. Trans-2-hexanoic acid also has metabolic disorders, such as disulfide bond formation or oxidation catalysts, that may lead to autoimmune diseases. Trans-2-Hexanoic acid is an important natural compound that has been found in a number of plants, including the leaves of the genus Acacia, which are used in traditional medicine for fever reduction and inflammation.
