3,5-Dibromo-4-chloropyridine is a chiral organic compound. It is prepared by the reaction of phosphorus pentachloride with 4-bromo anisole. The yield of this reaction is dependent on the conditions used, but can be as high as 85%. 3,5-Dibromo-4-chloropyridine has been used to synthesize optically active pyridines in enantioenriched form. This synthesis was optimised and kinetic studies were conducted at various temperatures in order to probe the reaction product. A probe molecule for this reaction was also synthesised and applied to study the reaction kinetics at different temperatures.
