Europium(II) chloride
CAS:Europium(II) chloride is a chemical compound with the formula EuCl. It is used as a reagent in organic synthesis, and as a catalyst for the conversion of nitrite to nitric oxide. Europium(II) chloride has been shown to catalyze the reduction of nitrite ions to nitric oxide when dissolved in water. This ionization process requires an acidic environment, which can be created by adding hydrochloric acid or acetic acid to the solution. The active site on europium(II) chloride is related to its divalent state and its ability to form square-planar complexes with ligands such as chloride or hydroxide. Europium(II) chloride is also used in optical absorption spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction studies.Purity:Min. 95%
