CAS:Potassium tetranitroplatinate(II) is a hydrated, organometallic compound that has been used in the synthesis of mercury-containing nanotubes. It is a yellow-orange crystalline solid that can be found in nature as the mineral platiniridium. Potassium tetranitroplatinate(II) can be stabilized by reacting it with mercuric chloride and carbon nanotubes. This reaction is an electrochemical process known as voltammetry and carbon nanotubes have been used to measure hydrogen chloride and chloride ions. Potassium tetranitroplatinate(II) also reacts with water molecules to form potassium nitrate, which is a molecule that consists of one potassium ion and two oxygen atoms bound together.Formula:N4O8Pt•K2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:457.3 g/mol
