    Trilithium hexafluoroaluminate (LiAlF6) is a rechargeable ionic liquid. It is an organic solvent that can be used as a non-aqueous electrolyte for lithium batteries. Trilithium hexafluoroaluminate has a potential of 2.5 volts and can be used to form compounds with alkali metals such as zirconium, lanthanum, and sodium carbonate. The active substance in trilithium hexafluoroaluminate is lithium metal. It has been shown to have high activity in the formation of lithium species when combined with sulfate or c1-c10 alkyl. Trilithium hexafluoroaluminate also sintering at low temperatures, which makes it useful for the production of aluminum oxide and aluminium.
