    CAS:
    N-alpha-Fmoc-N-alpha-Methyl-D-phenylalanine is a prenylated amino acid that has been shown to inhibit the growth of lung cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. The optimum dose for inhibition was determined to be low, with a maximum inhibition of tumour growth at doses as low as 1.0 μmol/L. This compound is not active against unmodified tumours and does not show any side effects on normal cells. N-alpha-Fmoc-N-alpha-Methyl-D-phenylalanine inhibits tumour proliferation by inhibiting protein synthesis, which may be due to its ability to sequester tryptophan residues and interfere with peptide synthesis.
