Methomyl-d3 is a chemical compound that is used in the monitoring of reactions. It is synthesized by reacting acetonitrile, ammonium acetate, and formic acid. Methomyl-d3 reacts with carbaryl to give methomyl-d3-carbaryl. This reaction can be monitored by using mass spectroscopy and gas chromatography to measure the concentration of methomyl-d3 as a function of time. Methomyl-d3 has been used for the detection of carbamate pesticide residues in human blood samples, extracted from hair or nails. The pesticide residue can be detected by extracting the sample with anhydrous acetate solution followed by measuring its mass concentration over time. Methomyl-d3 reacts with carbaryl to give methomyl-d3-carbaryl which can be monitored using gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy to measure the concentration of methomyl-d3 as a function of time
