(+)-ITD-1 is an inhibitor of TGF-β, effectively inhibiting TGF-β2 with an IC50 of 0.46 μM. It promotes the degradation of the TGF-β type II receptor (TGFBR2) and the differentiation of cardiomyocytes. Additionally, it suppresses the formation of the mesoderm during the early differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs).

ITD-1 is a hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) inhibitor that has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. ITD-1 inhibits the synthesis of HIF-1α, which normally activates genes that promote cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and tissue repair. ITD-1 has also been shown to inhibit TGFβ production, which is a growth factor that promotes tumour progression. In addition, ITD-1 can induce apoptosis in cancer cells by targeting ribonucleoprotein in the nucleus. This drug also inhibits collagen synthesis, which may reduce cell invasion and metastasis.
