    N-butan-2-yl-1-[5-[(3',6'-dihydroxy-3-oxospiro[2-benzofuran-1,9'-xanthene]-5-carbonyl)amino]-2-fluorophenyl]N-methylisoquinoline-3 carboxamide (BDZM) is a benzodiazepine receptor ligand that has been shown to be potent and selective for the benzodiazepine receptor. BDZM has been shown to bind reversibly to the receptor and block chloride ion channels in neuronal tissue. This compound also has other binding sites, including an amino acid site, but these sites are not as prevalent. BDZM has been shown to have no effect on rat renal membranes or histidine fluorescence techniques.
