N-Tosyl-(1R,2R)-1,2-dipenyl ethylenediamine is a chiral ligand that is used in catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation. It binds to the metal catalyst and regulates the rate of reaction. The monomer can be converted to a divinylbenzene copolymer using N-tosyl-(1R,2R)-1,2-diphenylethylene diamine as a chiral ligand. Selectivities are determined by the rate of reaction and the type of monomers used. Diffraction data was collected for a polymerization reaction using this ligand.
