CAS:Landiolol hydrochloride is a cardiac agent that has been shown to increase the force of contraction and decrease the heart rate. Landiolol HCl also lowers blood pressure, increases coronary blood flow, and reduces the workload on the heart. Landiolol HCl is used to treat congestive heart failure, angina pectoris, and arrhythmias. Landiolol HCl works by inhibiting phosphodiesterase enzymes in the myocardium and vascular smooth muscle cells that are responsible for breaking down cAMP. This leads to an increase in cAMP levels in these cells, which causes an increase in intracellular calcium levels and increased contractility of cardiac muscle.
