2,2-Dichloro-1-methylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid is a cyclopropane carboxylic acid that is used in the laboratory as an intermediate for the synthesis of other compounds. It can be synthesized from 2,2-dichloroethanol and methylene chloride. The compound is used to cleave proteins at carbon atoms with three-membered rings or carbonyl groups. This chemical also has been shown to have a germination stimulant effect on legumes. The two chlorine atoms in this compound are nucleophilic and react with phosphorus to form phosphorylated products.
