2-D08

2-D08 is a test compound that has been shown to induce mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis in cancer cells. This compound also inhibits protein synthesis, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the phosphorylation of eukaryotic initiation factor 2α (eIF2α). 2-D08 has been shown to induce the death of PC12 cells by inhibiting cellular proliferation and inducing the production of reactive oxygen species. The mechanism of action for this compound is not yet known, but it has been hypothesized that 2-D08 could modulate signal transduction pathways in a manner similar to all-trans retinoic acid. The effects on spermatozoa are not well understood, but it has been suggested that this compound could be used as an anti-cancer agent or as a contraceptive agent.

2-D08 is a synthetic flavone that inhibits sumoylation, also inhibits Axl with an IC50 of 0.49 nM.2-D08 showed anti-aggregatory and neuroprotective effect.
