1-Bromo-2-fluoro-4-iodo-5-methoxybenzene is a drug that is structurally related to ibuprofen and has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of sodium channels. It has selectivity for the Nav1.8 isoform, which is expressed in sensory neurons and plays an important role in pain perception. 1-Bromo-2-fluoro-4-iodo-5-methoxybenzene has been shown to have analgesic properties in animal models of nociception, with no effect on locomotor activity. This drug also has pharmacodynamic effects on the central nervous system, as demonstrated by changes in blood pressure and heart rate after administration in rats. These pharmacodynamic effects are independent of any effect on sodium channel inhibition.
