    3-Allylrhodanine is an anti-bacterial agent that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by interacting with transition metal ions. It is used in wastewater treatment to remove carbon disulfide and its condensation products. 3-Allylrhodanine reacts with aldehydes to form ethyl orthoformate and chloride, which are then converted into 2-bromo-3-nitrobenzoic acid. This compound is metabolized by nitroreductase and nitroreductase reductase, which produce hydrogen bond and thermodynamic effects, respectively. 3-Allylrhodanine also has hormone receptor binding activity that may lead to an increase in nitric oxide levels.
