    3-Cyanopropionaldehydedimethylacetal (3CPDMA) is a reactive compound that inhibits the proliferation of muscle cells. It has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A, which is required for the production of cholesterol and fatty acids. This inhibition leads to a decrease in the growth of cells and their ability to divide. 3CPDMA has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on picolinic acid, which is involved in the activation of receptors that induce cellular proliferation. The inhibition of this receptor may be due to its ability to compete with other ligands for binding sites on the receptor.
