    CAS:
    3-Chlorophenylhydrazine is a reactive, autophagy-inducing chemical that has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cells. 3-Chlorophenylhydrazine has been shown to cause cell lysis by increasing mitochondrial membrane permeability. It also inhibits the mitochondrial membrane potential and causes cellular energy metabolism to decrease. 3-Chlorophenylhydrazine can be used as a fluorescent probe for the detection of intracellular anion accumulation in vivo, which may be due to its ability to react with intracellular nucleophiles such as usnic acid. 3-Chlorophenylhydrazine is also able to inhibit the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and can be used as a reagent for the determination of DNA replication intermediates in solution.
