2,4-Bis(trifluoromethyl)phenylboronic acid is an organic compound that can be prepared by dehydrative coupling of 2,4-dichlorophenylboronic acid with aryl amines. It has been used as a catalyst in cross-coupling reactions to give the corresponding palladium complexes. This compound also crystallizes in a mononuclear, orthorhombic form and undergoes a transition metal insertion reaction to give the corresponding palladium complex. The phenyl group and phosphane ligand are coordinated to the palladium atom. 2,4-Bis(trifluoromethyl)phenylboronic acid is soluble in polar solvents such as water and acetone. It also reacts easily with carboxylic acids such as acetic acid or propionic acid to form esters.
