    N-(2-Chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-amine mononitrate is a selective 5HT1a receptor agonist. It is a low potency compound that has been shown to lower diastolic blood pressure in CD-1 mice. This drug also has vasoconstrictive properties and lowers locomotor activity. N-(2-Chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-amine mononitrate does not have any effect on the release of vasoactive intestinal peptide or guanine nucleotide binding proteins, which are important for regulating blood vessel tone. This drug can also reduce the pressor response in CD1 mice and is active against hypertension induced by constant pressure in rats.
