CAS:sec-Butylmagnesium chloride is a synthetic organometallic compound with the general formula RMgCl. It is an important reagent in organic synthesis, used for reductive elimination and cross-coupling reactions. It can be prepared by the reaction of magnesium metal with sec-butyl bromide or by direct reaction of magnesium with butyllithium. The two isomers of sec-butylmagnesium chloride are distinguished by their staining properties: the less reactive isomer stains blue, while the more reactive isomer stains yellow. It has been shown that exposure to sec-butylmagnesium chloride can cause symptoms such as aciduria and aryl chlorides, which may be due to its ability to reduce sulfhydryl groups and form mercaptans. Treatment for these symptoms include administration of sodium thiosulfate and methionine hydrochloride.Formula:C4H9ClMgPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:116.87 g/mol
