1-Acetyl-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine-3-carbaldehyde

1-Acetyl-3-formyl-7-azaindole is a molecule that inhibits the growth of tumor cells. It was found to inhibit the proliferation of lung cancer cell lines and tumor xenografts in mice. 1-Acetyl-3-formyl-7-azaindole also showed antiangiogenic activity, which is believed to be due to its ability to inhibit kinases involved in angiogenesis. This compound has shown promising results in cell culture assays as well as in animal models for cancer treatment. The mechanism of action has been shown to be through inhibition of casein kinase II, which may lead to cancer cell death by apoptosis or necrosis.
