It is a substrate for human liver alcohol and glucuronide enzymes, which are responsible for its pharmacokinetic properties. The affinity of 4-acetylbenzenesulfonamide to ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, has also been studied extensively. 4-Acetylbenzenesulfonamide has been found to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
