CAS:S-Methyl-L-thiocitrulline dihydrochloride (SMT) is a nonselective vasodilator that is used to treat hypertension. It has been shown to cause a decrease in blood pressure by the release of nitric oxide, which causes the dilation of blood vessels and an increase in blood flow. SMT also has haemodynamic effects by stimulating acetylcholine release and inhibiting potassium efflux from cells. This drug is used for the treatment of bladder dysfunction and is thought to be involved in the regulation of detrusor muscle contractions. The mechanism of action for this drug includes neuronal death, which may be due to its ability to inhibit glutamate release from nerve terminals. SMT also causes renal hemodynamic effects by decreasing glomerular filtration rate and increasing sodium reabsorption in the proximal tubule cell.Formula:C7H15N3O2SPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:205.28 g/mol
