5-Bromo-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine
CAS:5-Bromo-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme uridine phosphorylase. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of uridine to UMP and water. The enzyme also has decarboxylase activity, which converts UMP to IMP. The inhibitory effects of 5-bromo-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine on this enzyme are likely due to its ability to bind to the active site of the enzyme and form a covalent bond with the substrate. 5-Bromo-4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine is used as an experimental treatment for giardia infections in vitro culture and has been shown to be effective against giardia lamblia. It has also been shown that this drug blocks nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity in giardia lamblia and prevents nitric oxide synthesis as well as NADH oxidation.Formula:C4H3BrN2O2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:190.98 g/molRef: 3D-FB12051
