Thioflosulide is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used to relieve the symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease. Thioflosulide binds to and inhibits the phospholipase A2 enzyme, which in turn prevents the production of prostaglandin E2. Thioflosulide has been shown to be effective in reducing ulceration and improving quality of life for patients with ulcerative colitis. It also decreases microvessel density, reduces bowel disease severity, and prevents the formation of new blood vessels in the colon. Thioflosulide is an NSAID that blocks cyclooxygenase enzymes and reduces prostaglandin synthesis. It has been shown to be effective against inflammation in animal models.
