CAS:2-Amino-6-bromobenzothiazole is a white, crystalline solid that has many uses in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. It can be used as a precursor to other compounds or as an intermediate to synthesize dyes or other organic compounds. 2-Amino-6-bromobenzothiazole is weakly soluble in water, but dissolves well in most organic solvents. The compound has two hydrogen bonding interactions with each amine group and four hydrogen bonding interactions with each hydroxyl group. It also has two aromatic rings, one of which contains an electron withdrawing group (a bromine atom). 2-Amino-6-bromobenzothiazole is stable at room temperature unless it is heated, when it decomposes into carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide gases.
