  • 1,4-Thioxane

    CAS:
1,4-Thioxane is a chemical compound that has been shown to have carcinogenic potential. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet odor. It is highly soluble in water and easily diffuses through the skin. 1,4-Thioxane can be detected using GC-MS or LC-MS. The reaction mechanism of 1,4-thioxane has been shown to be a nucleophilic attack at the carbon atom adjacent to the hydroxyl group on the ring. This reaction can also be described as an addition reaction between thiols and electrophiles such as hydrogen bromide or trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TFMSA). 1,4-Thioxane has also been shown to react with pyridine and form pyridinium salts which are detectable by NMR spectroscopy.
