CAS:Gefitinib is a substance that is used in research. It is an inhibitor of the protein tyrosine kinase receptor type A (epidermal growth factor receptor, or EGFR). This chemical inhibits the binding of epidermal growth factor to its receptor and prevents activation of the downstream signaling pathways. Gefitinib has been shown to be effective against non-small cell lung cancer cells, which overexpress EGFR. The compound undergoes recrystallization as well as a process where triethyl orthoformate reacts with cyanophenyl chloride to give 3-deschloro-4-desfluoro-4-chloro-3-fluoro Gefitinib. Impurities are removed by the use of a column chromatography purification process. Gefitinib was approved for use in Japan in 2004 and in Europe and America in 2006. It is currently being investigated for its potential side effects on patients with asthma and diabetesFormula:C22H24ClFN4O3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:446.9 g/molRef: 3D-FD92873
