2,6-Bis[(4S)-4,5-dihydro-4-(1-methylethyl)-5,5-diphenyl-2-oxazolyl]pyridine is a chiral ligand used in asymmetric synthesis. It has been shown to be effective in the copper catalysed preparation of imines and amides. The ligand can also be used as a reagent for the preparation of organometallic compounds. The 2,6-bis[(4S)-4,5-dihydro-4-(1-methylethyl)-5,5-diphenyloxazolyl]pyridine is soluble in various organic solvents and can be prepared from hexanes or acetone. It is also possible to prepare this compound by reacting chloride with 2-[(phenylimino)methyl]-6-(phenylimino)hexane.
