    CAS:
    5'-O-DMT-2'-O-(2-methoxyethyl)-5-methyluridine is a novel, synthetic nucleoside with antiviral and antitumor activity. It is an analogue of 5'-O-DMT-2'-O-(2-methoxyethyl)uridine, which has been shown to be active against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) in vitro. The phosphoramidites of 5'-O-DMT-2'-O-(2-methoxyethyl)-5-methyluridine are modified at the 2' position with a methyl group and at the 5' position with a methoxyethyl group. These modifications make it more resistant to degradation by intracellular enzymes. The anticancer activity of 5'-O-DMT-2'-O-(2-methoxyethyl)-5-methyluridine was demonstrated in preclinical studies using human tumor cell lines.
