It is used in the production of polymers, resins, and paints. 5-Phenylpentan-1-amine is also used in the manufacture of statins and as a reagent in the synthesis of halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons. The diameter and thermal expansion coefficient have been reported to be carboxy. Aromatic hydrocarbons are known to inhibit certain enzymes that are involved in the influenza virus life cycle. 5-Phenylpentan-1-amine has been shown to have inhibitory activities against depression and enhancement activities against acetylcholine esterase and monoamine oxidase (MAO).
