CAS:Adamantyl methylamine is a tautomer of pyridinium, which is an amine. It has been shown to inhibit the replication of influenza virus and other viruses in vitro. Adamantyl methylamine has also been used as an inhibitor of human TNF-α production by SK-N-SH cells and as a topical agent for the treatment of herpes simplex virus. Adamantyl methylamine binds to the amine groups on proteins, thereby inhibiting the production of cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β, which are linked to inflammation.
