8-Bromo-6-methyl-1H-benzo[d][1,3]oxazine-2,4-dione is a sterically hindered β-unsaturated aromatic compound that can be used as a coupling partner in organic synthesis. This compound is also an axially chiral molecule that can be used in asymmetric synthesis. 8-Bromo-6-methyl-1H-benzo[d][1,3]oxazine-2,4-dione has been shown to catalyze the formation of carboxylic esters from carboxylic acids and alcohols. It has also been found to be useful in the targeted synthesis of chiral carboxylic acid derivatives.
