CJ-13610 is an active inhibitor of the sorbitol dehydrogenase enzyme. CJ-13610 has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines in vitro and in vivo, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of human polymorphonuclear leukocytes. This drug also has an effect on bowel disease, fatty acid metabolism, and polymorphic enzymes in rat liver microsomes.

CJ-13,610 is an orally active and nonredox-type inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX). CJ-13,610 inhibits the biosynthesis of leukotriene B4 and regulates the expression of IL-6 mRNA in macrophages.
