CAS:Controlled ProductBromazepam is a benzodiazepine that has been approved for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia. It is a prodrug that is metabolized in the liver to desmethyldiazepam, its active form. Bromazepam has been shown to be an inhibitor of GABA-A receptors and can be used as a research tool to study protein interactions, ligands, and receptors. This drug also acts as an activator of GABA-A receptors and is used as a receptor probe to study ion channels in life science research. Bromazepam binds to the GABA-A receptor at the alpha subunit and opens chloride channels on the outside of the cell membrane, which leads to hyperpolarization of the neuron. The opening of these chloride channels will cause an inhibitory effect on neurotransmitter release from nerve cells, leading to sedation and muscle relaxation.Formula:C14H10BrN3OMolecular weight:316.15 g/mol7-Bromo-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-benzo[e][1,4]diazepin-2(3H)-one
