CAS:2-Phenylthiazole is an antimicrobial agent that can be used to treat bowel diseases. It has been shown to have antifungal activity in vitro against Candida albicans, and has also been shown to inhibit choroidal neovascularization. 2-Phenylthiazole has a hydroxyl group on its chemical structure which can be oxidized by hydrochloric acid into a thiocyanate ion, which is the active form of the drug. The pharmacokinetic properties of 2-phenylthiazole are not well known, but it is likely that this drug binds to human proteins such as acetylcholinesterase. 2-Phenylthiazole coordinates with nitrogen atoms in the same way as other thiocarbamates, through a dative covalent bond. This bond is stabilized by three hydrogen bonds between the oxygen atom of the carbonyl group and two nitrogen atoms fromFormula:C9H7NSPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:161.22 g/mol
