CAS:2-(Methylthio)pyridine (2-MP) is a ternary complex with chloroperoxidase and terminal alkynes, which reacts to form pyrithione. 2-MP is synthesized from dichloropyridine and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in the presence of metal ions such as Fe(II), Mn(II), Co(II), Cu(I), or Ni(II). The reaction time for 2-MP synthesis depends on the metal ion concentration, but ranges from 10 minutes to 10 hours.
