1-Isocyanato-3-methoxybenzene (1iCMB) is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of prenylated compounds. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the replication of helical DNA and RNA, which is likely due to its interaction with the prenyl group. The molecular docking analysis showed that 1iCMB binds to the ligand in a levorotatory fashion. This binding leads to a decrease in the activity of helicase and topoisomerase II, which are enzymes that maintain DNA integrity. 1iCMB also inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting ribosomal activity. It is also resistant to most bacteria and can be used as a topical treatment for tuberculosis.
