CAS:2-Ethylhexyl bromide is an organic compound that belongs to the group of alkylating agents. It is a colorless liquid with an odor similar to that of ether. 2-Ethylhexyl bromide has been used in the synthesis of polymers, including polyethylene and polypropylene. It can be used as a solvent in the production of pharmaceuticals and pesticides, as well as in the manufacture of dyes and pigments. 2-Ethylhexyl bromide reacts with hydrochloric acid or other acid catalysts to produce ethylene gas and hydrogen bromide. This reaction takes place at a temperature ranging from 10 to 200 degrees Celsius and for a period of time ranging from several minutes to several hours. The process gives off light emission, which can be detected by measuring the intensity or wavelength of light emitted from a flame test apparatus. 2-Ethylhexyl bromide is also used to synthesize compounds called pentFormula:C8H17BrPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:LiquidMolecular weight:193.12 g/molRef: 3D-FE11175
