5-Chloro-2-methylbenzoxazole
CAS:5-Chloro-2-methylbenzoxazole is a chemotactic agent that has been shown to stimulate the motility of bacteria. It has been shown to be effective against E. coli, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Enterobacter cloacae. This compound is also used as a pesticide to control the growth of weeds and pests in agricultural fields. The mechanism of action is based on its ability to inhibit the enzyme nitrophenol hydroxylase in bacteria, which prevents the conversion of nitrophenols into toxic compounds. 5-Chloro-2-methylbenzoxazole can also be converted into other compounds by microorganisms such as subtilis, gaseous, or carbon sources.
