Lithium azide - 20% in water
CAS:Lithium azide is a reactive and toxic solvent. It is used as an intermediate in the preparation of other chemicals, such as azides, nitriles, and amines. Lithium azide reacts with alcohols to form solvents and work up agents. In the presence of halogens, lithium azide can be used to form reactive intermediates. Lithium azide has been shown to react with organometallic compounds to form solvents for purification or synthesis of organic compounds. Lithium azide has also been shown to be carcinogenic in animal studies. The mechanism of this drug's carcinogenicity may be due to its hydrolysis into nitrogen gas and hydrogen azide which can react with DNA, forming adducts that inhibit DNA repair mechanisms.Formula:LiN3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:48.96 g/molLithium azide, pure, 20% solution in water
