CAS:1,6-Bis(diphenylphosphino)hexane is a diphosphine ligand that is used in the synthesis of palladium complexes. It can be used to catalyze the dehydrogenation of alkenes and alkynes to form alcohols. This compound has been shown to react with magnesium oxide (MgO) to produce melanocarpa (CHClO). 1,6-Bis(diphenylphosphino)hexane has been shown to react with an aryl chloride in the presence of boron nitride (BN) or supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2). The reaction product was identified by x-ray crystallography and nmr spectroscopy as 2-(2'-chloroethyl)-1,6-bis(diphenylphosphino)hexane.
