    CAS:
    6-Bromobenzo[d]oxazol-2(3H)-one is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme, spindle pole body protein 2 (SPBP2). This compound has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells and may represent a new class of anticancer agents. 6-Bromobenzo[d]oxazol-2(3H)-one inhibits SPBP2 by binding to the active site and blocking ATP binding, thus preventing its interaction with other proteins. This molecule also inhibits chromosomal segregation during mitosis, which may be an important mechanism for its anti-cancer activity. 6-Bromobenzo[d]oxazol-2(3H)-one has been shown to have a strong inhibitory effect on yeast cells and is currently being studied for possible applications in biochemical analysis.
