    CAS:
(11beta,16alpha)-9-Fluoro-11-Hydroxy-16,17-[(1-Methylethylidene)Bis(Oxy)]-21-(Phosphonooxy)-Pregna-1,4-Diene-3,20-Dione Disodium Sal t is a supramolecular drug that inhibits the activity of lipoxygenase. This drug has been shown to be effective in preventing the progression of age related macular degeneration by inhibiting the production of proinflammatory molecules such as leukotrienes and prostaglandins. It also minimizes cataract formation and is used in devices such as intraocular lenses. The molecular structure consists of a steroid nucleus with an annulare ring system that can be injected into tissues and cells. The molecule is bioactive and pharmacologically active when it binds to collagen or amino acids.
