Tetrakis(dimethylsilyl)silane
CAS:Tetrakis(dimethylsilyl)silane is a mesogenic liquid crystal that has been used in the synthesis of various mesogenic compounds. It can be used to synthesize low-molecular weight, volatile, and radiation-resistant mesogens. Tetrakis(dimethylsilyl)silane can also be used in the synthesis of class II liquid crystals. The most common use of this compound is as a reagent for hydrosilylation reactions with olefins. Tetrakis(dimethylsilyl)silane is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, hexadecyl ether, and tetrahydrofuran. It is also soluble in water due to its hydrophilic nature.
