CAS 20098-14-0: 5-hydroxy-2-adamantanone

5-Hydroxy-2-adamantanone is a hydroxylated fatty acid that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activities. It has been used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and as a pharmaceutical drug for other conditions. 5-Hydroxy-2-adamantanone belongs to the group of biocompatible polymers, which are characterized by their low molecular weight, high solubility in water, and low toxicity. The compound is also able to bind with cb2 receptors, which are present on immune cells, and inhibit the activity of these cells. This may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of cytokines such as TNFα and IL1β. This compound can be synthesized using analytical methods and it has been found to be carcinogenic in humans when administered at high doses.
