CAS:1-(6-Methoxybenzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)hydrazine is a ligand that binds to the Fe(III) atom in the presence of chloride ions. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and can be used as an antibacterial agent. 1-(6-Methoxybenzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)hydrazine is also magnetic, so it can be detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This compound has shown promise as a magnetic resonance contrast agent for MRI. The synthesis of 1-(6-methoxybenzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)hydrazine requires a cyclic reaction with amines, which are activated by chlorination.
